About Skipton & Craven Action for Disability

Available for anyone to hire for boat trips on the Leeds-Liverpool canal, our beautiful widebeam canal boat Endeavour is specially adapted for wheelchair access, so is particularly well suited to cater for parties with a variety of disabilities.

There is a wide boarding platform on the front deck, and internal wheelchair lift for access to the saloon and the cabin and toilet facilities also accommodate wheelchairs. We can accommodate up to four wheelchairs at any one time – however please be aware that there is a limit to the size of chair which we can get aboard.

We supply a volunteer crew to man the boat and assist with boarding so all you have to do is to relax and enjoy the scenery. The boat can accommodate up to 12 passengers on a trip (this includes wheelchairs and carers).

The cruise lasts 5 hours and travels from our landing area behind Skipton Hospital either towards Gargrave or Kildwick and back. Travelling at a relaxing canal speed of less than 4 miles per hour, the transquility of the canal is a tonic for everyone. 

Enjoy the wildlife and the pretty narrowboats as you discover the peaceful world of the canal. Maytime trips can travel through the stunning bluebell woods at Farnhill, or see the swans nesting, and take in the bustle of the Skipton canal basin.

During the cruise, the galley is available for you to make your own refreshments, with tea and coffee always on board. For lunch, you have three options – we can book a buffet from a local bakers to be delivered as you set off, you can bring your own or we can stop in the canal basin for a fish and chip lunch.
